I'm Back....For a Little While Anyways

Well, readers, it seems that I just cannot stay away from my blog. I hadn't intended to post anything until at least next Monday, when I handed in the final project of the semester. However, my blog had other ideas and had been taunting me like a playground bully to give it a bit of attention. So, I decided to give in to it's diva like demands and post. Rest assured, however, that I have given the blog a strict talking to and it will be working on its unacceptable bully behavior, lest it receive another time out.

First, I thought that I'd share this video about the resurgence of sewing. I would embed the video but I am not sure how since it's not on Youtube. Some of the points in the video are thought provoking, as the video suggests that people are coming back to the art of sewing as a way to save money. I know that the topic of the frugality of sewing has been visited on many other blogs, and it as always fun to hear everyone's opinions on it.

Secondly, I bent my fingernail completely backwards while attempting to open a can of marinated artichoke hearts. I screamed. It hurt. Sewing related? No. Of interest to you all? Probably not.

Thirdly. I got a sleeve board!! Best of all, it only cost me $1.50! It will be making an appearance on the blog, as soon as it recovers from the few cosmetic surgeries it's having. When it reemerges, it will have a brand new face cover and batting You've gotta love estate sales!

Fourthly, I managed to pick up two shorts patterns at Joanns, along with some gray poplin to make a pair. I have an apron lined up to go before I get to this project, so it may be two or three weeks before I finish them. They are going to be my version of the gray Anthro shorts that I posted under my inspiration post.

Lastly, my next project is going to be a vintage Vogue reprint full apron, made with vintage fabric that has a print of soup tureens, pepper grinders, and fruit bowls. I may or may not don red lipstick and pearls for the photo shoot upon its completion.

Now, if you will excuse me, I have a book report to write, just as soon as I finish reading the book.
I'd love to hear what everyone is working on right now!

Happy Sewing!

  1. Good luck on the book report. The vintage apron sounds like a fun project. Can't wait to see it!

  2. I started a new tunic top to avoid having to finish my slip[ dress bias binding. Was going well till i discovered that the tunic also needed bias binding. Both are in a silky material so its a steep learning curve. Also pulled out a todays fit top that promised to only take two hours to make (v8151). Long sleeve merino. Only had time to read the instructions and started to glaze over when it came to diving things by 4 to make them fit! Gillian Down Under
